Liam is our October Locum of the Month and we are thankful to have him working in our services!
Liam first joined the MyMedic team in October 2019. Liam was nominated for always offering to help, being hard working, is approachable and a knowledgeable ECP!
We asked Liam, why choose a career in the medical world, why he ventured into Locum work and what he thinks of MyMedic.
I joined emas in 2008 wanting to be a paramedic, although it was never my vocation. I just felt I needed a different career path and wanted to try something different and exciting. To have Better job security for the future was also high on the agenda.
After 5 years working both double crewed ambulances and then 8 years on the fast response car in the city centre, I felt like my career couldn't progress any more in the direction I wanted whilst employed by the ambulance service and I became disillusioned.
I wanted to pursue a career working as a primary care practitioner, something I always wanted to try but never really had the opportunity.
I was fortunate enough to join the My Medic team after completing my practitioner qualifications.
I feel agency work supports a good work life balance and enables me to spend more time at home with my family without missing any further important events, which unfortunately I did for so many years.
My medic is a great company to work for and the team provides plenty of support whenever it's needed.
They have a great APP to assist with booking and managing shifts which allows me to manage my work life easily and efficiently.
