Julia Rouse is our senior business support here at MyMedic. She has been with us since the very beginning and here, in our first Meet the Team Q&A, you can find out all about her role with us and love of Doncaster!
Q1. Tell us a bit about your career history?
I worked in education as a primary school teacher for 20 years before retiring in August 2012. After a six month ‘rest’ I started working with Rob and Gareth in July 2013, before they set up MyMedic.
Q2. What is your role at MyMedic and what does it involve?
My title is Senior Business Support. It generally involves liaising with both clients and locums to book shifts and monitoring the rotas on a day to day basis along with my colleagues. The other major part of my role is the finance side of the company – paying invoices and payroll etc.
Q3. What’s your favourite thing about working for MyMedic?
We are a small friendly team, with a strong ‘work-family’ ethos.
Q4. What do you enjoy most about working in the health sector?
Being in contact with people who have chosen to spend their working lives caring for others.
Q5. What do you think is the secret to MyMedic’s success?
We have a strong work ethic supported by the senior management team actively fostering an environment where everyone feels valued. This is the foundation of our company, which then maximises user friendly, state-of-the-art technology to support our clients and locums in their businesses and working lives.
Q7. What do you like most about living and working in Doncaster?
I have lived here since I was 17 years old and most of my family are based in Doncaster.
Doncaster is central to the northern transport network, making it easy to travel to other places by road, rail and air. With the national decline of the high street, Doncaster is working hard to promote culture and leisure in the town centre.
There are a number of historic places to visit locally from Conisbrough Castle (said to be the basis of Walter Scott’s novel – Ivanhoe) to Bawtry (a 12th century port) to Brodsworth Hall, the former home of the Thellusson family.
Q8. Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
My husband and I own our own wood.
